Disney makes all sorts of movies. A lot of very good movies, but I have my doubts about Star Wars. I mean sure. They'll be good movies, but not same. More like any other sci-fi fantasy sequelthon.
I agree and think it will be geared to a younger audience, which sort of makes sense, and because of that, I don't think it will be as entertaining as what most will. The people putting up the money will want something that will sell action figures and video games more than cause water cooler conversations. But what do I know? I'm not a big sci-fi person anyways. More Film Noir if anything.
I loved the first three Star Wars movies. But after that? Not so much. I liked The Clone Wars (? The one that shows how Boba Fet came about?). LOL It kind a had a gritty style. I've seen the trailer for the new movie and I think this movie will be pretty good. If you're a hard core Star Wars fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed. But I do think aftermarket products will have an effect to the overall outcome of these movies. Sure, I'll watch it. I'll just wait til it hits video or more likely, HBO instead of laugh, cry and kiss twenty bucks goodbye at the picture show.
Disney Movies..... I wonder what ever happened to the girl that was in the original Escape from Witch Mountain movies?
StarWars the XIIIth.... Vader Meets Jason.
You could have Skywalker, Chewbaca, Han Solo and R2D2 having the Millenium Falcon break down at the abandoned Camp Death Star. And Jason wearing some weird cross between a storm trooper's helmet and a hockey mask and kills them off one by one.
No wait... Al Pacino as Don Vido. Marlon Brandon as the Emperor in Mario Puzo's Star Wars.
Could see a scene where Obi Wan Kinobee wakes up to find R2D2's severed head in his bed.
so he gives Luke Skywalker a part in the Jedi Knights.
... Paul Newman in Cool Hand Skywalker? Now THAT was a movie worth watching.
Who would win in a fight? Star Wars or Star Trek?
I dunno. Not all that impressed with low plot/too much CGI movies.
Star Wars? I was really disappointed when Samuel Jackson's character didn't act like Jackie Brown.
You know in that lame movie, he didn't say M-F one time? They could have at least had a scene where he and Yoda ride around in a hover craft, with Yoda asking him what they called cheeseburgers in Alderann.
That's what the Star Wars franchise needs. Quentin Tarantino.
As far as Star Wars goes... I'm really afraid that since Disney owns the Franchise now, we'll be seeing less developed plot lines (even less?) and more characters like Jar-Jar.
Not that I care what tracks get made, but I have read that the reason Rockingham isn't released is because of tire physics with the cars? Is that right?
I think rockingham is part off s3 and only just one track is to less.
But you haven't tried new westhill
Hate double posting, but I didn't catch this....
Uh yeah, I have - unless they made a NEWER New Westhill (don't play multi anymore as it's empty when I get on. so probably no stats on me for it)
And again. Not so much wanting a particular track, just interested in how it gets made.
one detailed average 3 mils track will take 6~8 month at least if there is only one man working on his free time ( this is what I think about eric situation ), there is no miracles about this if the devs won't increase their man powers they will take years to make 3/4 tracks/cars.
I think the actual LFS physics is good enough to create an average general profil about a classe of car ( fwd/rwd.... ), but why scawen went into the new physics development ? I think it's because when you add the real cars data into the actual engine it will act weird in some situation, yes you can tweak some parametre to make them acte more natural but you will not get the best result and you will save alot of time later when you want to make another real/fictional car.
you have all the right to ask such question, if this discussion keep calm and respectful ( not for long time though ).
Thanks.
6-8 months sounds about right (tries to visualize tree placement). LOL with this free roaming, they ought to consult with a civil engineer to determine proper parking.
I'm not too concerned about the "low" number of devs. In fact, I've had plenty of experience with Design by committee and all of it bad.
"you have all the right to ask such question, if this discussion keep calm and respectful ( not for long time though )."
Yeah. I can see it heading south already. It'll probably get locked in a day or two.
Is there a "race track generator" type program? Like what the news media uses for articles is a program called wordsmith. Automated articles formed by the computer using only a few key words and phrases. Is there some sort of software like that out there? Or does every last bit have to be coded? I know there are add-ons for CAD that do that with pipelines and electrical conduit - as well as parking lots.
Not that I care what tracks get made, but I have read that the reason Rockingham isn't released is because of tire physics with the cars? Is that right? I don't understand this reasoning as the cars work pretty good on the tracks we have already. I dunno. Never really cared for "real" cars and tracks. I've always liked the made up ones and think that the whole Game should be....made up. Not to sound like I'm whining for S3, cause I'm not, How long does it take to make a track? uh... OK An average three mile long track with all the trees, stands, tires and whatnot? When designing a track, what is used to determine curve radius and track width? Also, is the track designed at 1:1 scale or something else? When I design...an elevator panel, sometimes it can take a couple of days and at usually 1/4 scale so the design fits on tabloid paper for approval submital. There's all sorts of things that goes into that instead of just making a flat piece of metal with buttons and numbers. So I can appreciate the time that it would take to make a Fern Club track.
Also, are CAD programs used? Or is it made with customized software?
But back to Rockingham and incompatibility.
Is it a case that just cause a car works well on one set of tracks, it's flaws are noticed on another one?
Why would that be an issue though? If anyone answers this, please be aware that I'm functionally computer illiterate - so no big words, OK?
If I just HAVE to whine and complain about LFS development, then it's with the A.I. Damn. They're almost as stupid as the real life drivers I have to put up with. LOL I wish I could mod all their cars to look like the Little yellow school buses that they should be in..
Yours?
My kids were in school on my date. Now I'm a Grandpa.
My son does a lot with video Games and controllers. Through him I've gotten to play all sorts of racing titles. And as unfinished and out dated as LFS is, nothing out there really comes close to it.
Romanians? I don't like playing with them. They only play at night.
I got booted off their server cause they could smell garlic on me - thru the internet. Didn't matter they were cheating anyways. Every time you passed them, they used a cheat to turn their cars into bats and fly past. And now I got some dude with bad teeth named Vlad hanging around outside demanding me to let him in! What's up with that?
Yeah yeah I know.. The vampire jokes get played to death - or undeath.
.....
I heard about that music festival that was held over there where it cost a blood donation to get in. I thought that was cool.
There used to be a few people from there that played, I don't know if they still do.
Got a really bad desire for a 1000cc supersports though, feeling around for a Repsol 06-07 Fireblade near my area.
Rode my brother's beemer...1000r (R?) I dunno. Just can't get over the feeling of flying over the handlebars when braking. It's ok if you like crotch rockets. Personally, I would stick with Rice burners. But I'm prejudiced towards Japanese Bikes. The beemer is as overengineered as their cars are.
i don't know if this is common with sport bikes, but it has braking like what the newer Goldwings do. You can activate the back brake with the lever too. A bunch of computer crap. Three traction control settings. I imagine it's a real pain to work on. It's got pretty good response and is very agile. But not really my style of bike. He's selling it, if you're interested.......
I had a set of Stompgrips on my SV so I could hug the tank with my legs under braking and put minimal weight on the bars. You can do it without the Stompgrips, you just have to squeeze harder. If you feel like you're flying over the bars under braking, you may not be sitting up enough.
A lot of newer bikes have ABS, and I think maybe because of that they also tend to have linked brakes.
Also, I think Matrixi is on a different continent...
Oh yeah it has ABS so linked brakes makes sense.... sitting - UP? LOL Actually I was able to sit somewhat upright, with a slight forward lean. I think that slight forward leaning is what made me feel that way. That and the relatively short wheel base (compared to what I'm used to riding). I imagine it's something you get used to, like forward controls. If you've never used forward controls, you almost always put your feet where you THINK the pegs should be when taking off. LOL can you imagine a sport bike with forward controls? LOL the first bike geared for contortionists.
I haven't heard of a Matrixi, but I don't know much about sport bikes, particularly BMWs, either. But I do know Bike makers make specific models for specific areas. I know Harley made a sportster variant that looked a lot like a flat tracker, You can get one here, but they were shooting for the European market with it. And I think It sold pretty good over there compared to here.
Still smooth sailing with the Hornet... clocked a bit over 3100 kilometers so far this summer and just did the first oil/filter change.

Hmmm... So what I'm getting about this is Windows is like a family car. It's good to get from here to there (playing simple games, doing simple stuff)
While Linux is more like a Utility vehicle or a tractor or something. More geared towards hard core computer users?
I dunno, After fighting to get that Win10 malware off my box, I started to take a new interest in Linux.
Sorry, but something that invades your computer the way win10 did, can't be good. in fact it's kinda scary. I don't trust it. Plus, GWX.exe for some reason was killing my internet. It went back to normal after I finally was able to get rid of that crap.
Plus, there's no such thing as fair or free - so what's the catch to it?
If the Linux operating system got less complicated to fool with, then it might be worth another look. But if it's still go get this patch for this. Get that patch for that, no now the other patch is incompatible.. that sort of crap? Then I think my days of messing with these boxes are coming to an end. I'm too old for that kind of thing and I got better things to do with the time I have left.
All I really do on the computer at home anymore is babble on forums and play a couple of video games (this one and War Thunder) and watch you tube once in a while.
Which is why I'm not so sure about Linux either.
I dunno... the only way to really get the most realism from playing a video game, in this case a racing simulator, involves the use of hallucinogens and an isolation chamber. Anyone see Altered States?
You don't really need a multi curved 3d monitor set up, just one that performs well in salt water.
I switched to Ubuntu 14.04 and it should work fine with any wine version that is 1.7.x
What is it with you computer people and Linux? AS a somewhat normal user, I wonder if Linux is for people that were big fans of windows ME.
What is it that makes Linux a preferred OS for y'all? I dunno. I had a computer that had windows ME, This is an OS that makes VISTA look good. A computer nerd friend suggested I try this thing called "Lindows". After about a half a day of lock-ups, looking for patches and files to operate various software, and it STILL locking up and having glitchy performance at best, I re formatted again - with windows ME. Seeing that you still need to down load this patch that, having that patch conflict with something else, digging around for a patch for that that now conflicts with something else. What am I missing that y'all seem to be all over?
Yeah, then you get loads of real friends for life.
I dunno... an automatic win hack could be fun to do as a gag, but it would screw with the stats, not to mention real losers using it to disrupt racing series. But if you could use it in a casual race to mess with your friends' heads as a joke and it not mess up the stats and the win doesn't count, instead of using it to actually cheat, that would be fun.
LOL you know more about this computer crap than I do. What do you think would be harder? Coding the auto win hack? or keeping people from abusing the hack and turning everything into a cluster?
I thought of another hack....
What if you could mess with the wind settings and have tornadoes pop-up and attack the other racers?
Speedhack. What does that really do beside make you crash faster. I dunno. If you just have to have a cheating hack, why not make one that makes you automatically win the race?
On Tuesday presidential candidate Jeb Bush spoke about the first meeting between himself and his future foreign bride, Columba. " It was love at first sight. I spoke little Spanish and she spoke little English, but when you are in love you can overcome those barriers pretty quick. There's another language that matters the most."
John Ellis "Jeb" Bush is an American businessman and politician who served as the 43rd Governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007. He is the second son of former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush, and the younger brother of former President George W. Bush.
Bush met his wife while in Leon, Mexico helping to build homes. León is a city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. They married a few years later in Austin, Texas, and now live in Coral Gables, Florida.
Is there a difference between Jeb Bush's Foreign Bride and so called Mail Order Brides? Feminists and women rights groups have argued for years that men who travel across boarders for love take advantage of women that come from lower economic regions. In 2005 the Tahirih Justice Center and Senator Cantwell pushed legislation regulating foreign brides, stating that men take unfair advantage of women in foreign counties. The law (IMBRA ) requires marriage brokers to run background checks on all men that seek a foreign bride. Bush's wife was underage at the time they met and came from one of the poorest areas of central America. Did Jeb Bush then take advantage of his future wife Columba? After all she came from poverty and Jeb Bush came from a powerful, wealthy family.
Kenneth Agee, Marketing Director of A Foreign Affair, a company that specializes in foreign bride match-making says, "Absolutely not! In our society and most societies women are always looking to find a better way of life. It is instinctual for females to find the best possible suitor for having a family, just like it is instinctual for men to be attracted to certain physical aspects of women. How would marrying into wealth make you a victim? The notion that men have economic control of women, at best, would not last long after marriage. It is equally invalid to say women have a control over men because of their beauty. The truth is, a negative situation can happen no matter where you meet and has more to do with character than economics or location. Personally, my wife is from Russia, is very strong-willed, and would never let herself become a victim. I find this to be true of most foreign women. I'm sure Jeb Bush would agree. Contrary to the opinion of Terra Justice Center, an INS study showed there were fewer issues with cross-border marriages than domestic marriages. In fact they have a much higher success rate"
And Jeb Bush is not the only candidate with a foreign-born wife. Candidate Donald Trump is also currently married to Melania Trump, a former model from Slovenia. Donald Trump's first wife, Ivana, is from the Czech Republic.
Marrying foreign women is becoming a trend for the elite. FOX News CEO Rupert Murdoch is married to Wendi Deng Murdoch from Jinan, China, with a 38 year age difference.
Yet feminists continue to argue that men seek foreign brides only because they lack the necessary social skills to find someone in the US. This is clearly not the case, as these successful men do not lack socials skills.
Society has changed greatly over the years and love has no borders. Looking worldwide for love is becoming the norm now. Each week companies like A Foreign Affair take dozens of men to countries all over the world where they attend social events, meeting hundreds of beautiful women and models, who like themselves are serious about finding true love and marriage. These men are from many varied walks of life: doctors, CEOs, policemen, businessmen, you name it. You don't have to be a Bush or Trump to see the advantage of looking abroad for real love.
With two candidates, Jed Bush and Donald Trump, both married to foreign brides, we could see our first foreign-born First Lady in the White House.
Not with the current crop of bozos the GOP are cranking out. We're going to be stuck with Hillary.
But that will be a little interesting too. We'll have the first ex-President to become a first...lady without having a sex change And we'll have the first Former First Lady to become President without changing her Pantsuit.
I think Trump is trying to sabotage what little chance the GOP has of getting elected. He didn't get as rich as he is by being as stupid as he's acting on the campaign trail.
hah, going slow is certainly not the issue, my line is far too inconsistent compared to what I can do on track. Especially if my first time ever on a track was as consistent.
I'm thinking it's something to do with my setup as well, or at least I'm sure isn't helping. Standard desk with a 32" tv about 3ft away from me, and more often than not, a wide angle.
I recently started trying a lower FOV using one of those online calculators, and while I had a hard time judging where things are, and am limited even still by a 32" screen, I noticed I became more consistent. But am incapable of using that view since I literally cannot see or know of anything around me (I lose reference to cars on my side, coming up from behind, etc.), making it too 'dangerous' for anyone around me.
As cheap as TVs are these days, I've been considering going up to a 42" tv for a while, but unsure if that will honestly help.
I really should borrow my friend's Oculus DK2 and actually try it in a game Played with it before going out to Barber Motorsports Park last year, but we only could watch youtube recordings since he had no software set up for it. Other than the rather IMO poor resolution, it was certainly an interesting experience. Waiting on VR to get to a solid-out-of-beta before getting into it though.
Wow! You're still around? Still in Georgia? Hope you been doing OK. Still making car skins?
Oh I don't know about Oculus (yet) but LFS plays pretty good on a 55" 3d tv. The 3d ain't all that though. It makes everything look a little floaty. Like playing using a view master.
Well, FWIW: They completed the "bait and switch" on my backing. They removed me from the backer pool (preventing me from collecting any returns) because I've said some negative things on the internet about pCARS.
Yeah, this game looks pretty but I really couldn't tell much difference between the go-karts and the sports cars. It was like no matter what you picked, they all were about the same. LFS with a mouse has more response than Pcars with a G25.
I've been thinking about this Russia/Texas separatist issue...
Must be the drugs the Doctors got me on.....
There's this guy that write Alternative History novels
He's one of those endless story novelists (why can't these guys wrap it up in 600 pages and write a new book?)
One involved the first world war, only with the US civil war ending in a stalemate. The Union sided with the Germans and the South siding with the Allies. All the northern states of Mexico were in the Confederacy instead of Mexico as were all the Indian tribes in Oklahoma. And Utah Territory was like Palestine. I wish I read the whole series. Semi-freed slaves joining the Bolsheviks....
Anyways,
Think of a not too distant future where during a Summit meeting between the US and Russian presidents, The Russian President takes a big PR tour through Texas and meets with the governor. A governor of a state that is angry with current federal policies. Visits strategic places in Texas for popular support. Behind the scenes retaliation against Texas interests for upstaging the POTUS only further alienates the mainstream Texan. Soon reports of Border vigilantes being spotted in the Ukraine start to crop up. And rumors of training camps in Chechnya waving Texas flags and blaring George Strait make the news. A major hurricane... no a major earthquake caused by Fracking happens in Texas and the feds use it as a way to exert more control over the citizenry. They make the mistake of gungrabbing like they did in New Orleans after Katrina. A small kid gets killed in a botched raid at a wrong house in Plano (a satellite city of Dallas/Ft.Worth that has heavily armed citizens and has fracking related quakes) and a revolution begins.
Throw in a special forces burn-out that's down on his luck, A sexy female assassin for the Zetas and some kid named Johnny and it might make for a cool story.
Oh yeah... the swastika thingee. I heard somewhere that The Nazis got it from an old Gnostic symbol and it was mostly a catchy design with no real meaning for them.
Because of my son, I get to try various racing games. And it seems no matter how pretty they look, they always fall short where it counts.
Now most of the titles are consoles and "playing" based on coding the G25 to work with an Xbox 1. It runs through a ....preamp? that emulates stuff or something. I don't know much about it as a lot of that computer crap is over my head. Anyways, It seems that every title made after 2006 totally abandoned the concept of realistic performance. I guess you only have so much disc space, why waste it on something you can't see or sell and use it to make pretty trees?
Project Cars comes to mind here. With all the neat set up options, you think you're doing something.... til you pick a whole different car, leave it stock and it handles almost exactly the same.
And what is this Asynchronous Racing nonsense? Honestly... I'd rather play GTA than any of the titles out nowdays. It's car physics suck too. But at least they don't B.S. you into thinking it doesn't and you can run over pedestrians. That's a lot more fun than driving a Porsche, a Barracuda and a F1 car and not noticing a difference.
I'm not knocking your game here. I'm not sure I've even played it. I just noticed that all the titles I have played are pretty disappointing.
Do you get paid for this, or is it part of who yah be?
Just me, this here one's a request for y'all from the Orca's......
"We drove 3000 miles to play for you people, Somebody told me you people are crazy, but you seem to be ok by me" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1or0rEKpns
During a 1978 tour, psychobilly punk band The Cramps created one of the strangest moments in the history of both rock n' roll and psychiatry when they played a gig inside Napa State Mental Hospital.
It's hard to believe it actually happened. The story sounds more like an exaggerated rock legend than an account of a real concert, but no suspension of disbelief is needed. Someone filmed the gig.
Johnny Cash and The Cramps are unlikely bedfellows, but both took their music to the marginalised and hinted that we're not so different from those we lock away.
Sad thing is, I always thought the Nazi flag was pretty cool looking.
LOL it's kinda like a Khardashian - all pretty on the outside and a complete mess on the inside.
I sort of think this was done to have an effect on different levels.
1. First off, it's a direct one-up in the Putin/Obama feud.
Texas as a state is more anti-Obama than he is.
And Obama likes Texas less than he does Putin.
2. I think there is a serious desire to gauge the potential of the separatists on the part of the Russians. What better way to get intelligence on a person than to invite them over and ask them?
Remember what I said about Hillary in '16? These whack-jobs are going to go nuts. If Texas were to go into some sort of civil disturbance because of these morons, it'll pretty much screw up the rest of the country.
And it shouldn't take too much imagination to see Putin capitalizing on that.
3. This meeting might be used to prod the Obama or the next Clinton administration into directly interfering with Texas more than what they do now as a show of authority. They fail to understand that doesn't work with us and that all that will do will gain the separatists sympathy points. Putin knows this. The best resource a guerrilla force can get is popular support. And if these separatists become legitimate, they'll get backing from the Russians and it'll be enough to keep the US from interfering with Putin's own expansion plans.
These separatists are some real winners. Rebels without a clue. For the most part they stay hidden away rambling their nonsense to themselves. Yeah, they lost the plot ages ago. Most "normal" people consider them an embarrassment. But with the growing number of fed up people hitting the boiling point, all it'll take is a mis-guided directive and the separatist movement goes from the lunatic fringe to the mainstream.
